Meeting with Hank
At the beginning of the chapter, Connor gets out of the car and heads for the food truck where Hank is. After the events of the previous chapter, it is necessary to repair the relationship with his partner.
When you reach the spot where Hank is talking to a stranger, activate the scan with the R2 button. Four objects will be available for analysis: Hank himself, the stranger next to him, the food in the van, and the employee behind the counter. Scanning will expand the available dialogue options.
When talking to Hank, choose the option “Apologize for your behavior” — this will increase your partner’s trust level. When Hank receives the order, use R2 again to scan the food. Hank will move to a nearby table, follow him.
Several dialogue options will be available to you at the table. You can choose them in any order (although the line about cholesterol is most appropriate at this point). Each phrase you choose will strengthen Hank’s trust. During the conversation, topics such as deviants, Conor himself, and Hank’s dislike of androids will come up.
Towards the end of the dialogue, you will be faced with a choice between lying and telling the truth. Choose “Truth” and watch how the conversation unfolds. After the call, Connor and Hank will go to investigate the case in one of the buildings.
Investigation of the deviant’s apartment
The detectives arrive at a dilapidated high-rise building. Leave the elevator and follow Hank down the hallway. You will notice feathers on the floor to your right — you can analyze them. Hank will stop at the apartment door. Knock and watch the short scene. Hank will break down the door, follow him in and search the premises with him.
Follow your partner until you see a flock of birds flying. Now you can begin a detailed inspection:
Right side of the apartment:
- There is a jacket on the table — examine it.
- To the left of the jacket is a poster with a farmer on it — scan it
- Remove the poster to reveal a crack in the wall with a magazine inside
- Take the magazine and flip through its pages
Central zone:
- There is an ID card on the shelf — pick it up.
- Examine the birdseed on the countertop
- Check the empty refrigerator nearby. These clues will add information about the suspect.
Bathroom (left):
- Examine the sink — there are traces of blue blood on it.
- Take a blood sample for analysis
- Pick up the tracker lying by the sink. This will confirm that the suspect is a deviant.
Turn around and examine the marks on the wall. Hank will appear for a short dialogue. When he leaves, notice the broken seat on the floor — examine it. An opportunity for reconstruction with two clues will open up.
Scroll the timeline to the yellow marker and scan the two clues that appear. You will see the direction in which the suspect fled. Return to the living room and scan the birdcage on the floor for a second reconstruction.
The reconstruction will show that the deviant is still here—he’s hiding one floor above. Look up, and at that moment, the deviant will jump on Connor, and Hank will be frightened by a flock of birds taking flight.
The Pursuit of a Deviant
The chase through the building begins. During the run, hints with buttons will appear — press each one at the right time to overcome obstacles and maintain your speed.
The chase will lead you outside into open terrain. Guide Connor to where you can see the fleeing deviant. At a certain point, you will need to scan using R2 — you will be given a choice of route: fast and risky or safe and slow.
The chosen route will determine the complexity of the button commands and the speed of movement. You have a few seconds to make a decision, otherwise the route will be selected automatically.
Following the chosen path, you will soon encounter a new fork in the road—now with three options. The risky fast route will require precision, but choose it and press the commands to jump over the truck onto the upper ledge.
The next choice: a safe detour or a direct path through the crowd. Take the safe option — this way you will avoid numerous obstacles in the greenhouse ahead.
Continue chasing down the slope and jump into the building when instructed. After landing, quickly turn left. The door ahead will slam shut—immediately turn right to exit through another passageway.
Once outside, use R2 again to scan the routes. Take the fast, risky one—it’s the most direct. Run forward, press the commands, and slide down the slope. Follow the prompts to avoid the pits, jump onto the train, and then onto the next ledge behind the deviant.
Don’t stop running, go around the trees. Jump over the ledges when instructed, then choose your next route. Take the direct route through the greenhouse — you’ll have to maneuver between crowds of androids and jump across shelves with plants, dodging obstacles.
The chase will lead you to a cornfield. Keep running, and you will face a critical choice.
Final decision
Two options will appear: pursue the deviant or save Hank. The system will show Hank’s probability of survival, but the correct decision is to save Hank. The deviant will leave, but your partner’s trust will increase significantly. After a short scene, the chapter will end.
