This chapter begins when Marcus gets off the bus and heads to the mansion. After entering the building, the first thing to do is place the package you brought on the tabletop next to the mirror—a corresponding hint will appear. If you wish, you can approach the cage with mechanical birds, which is located near the same table, and activate them.
The Awakening of Karl
Climb the stairs to the top floor. On the way, you can look at the paintings and artwork hanging on the walls. Find the door that opens automatically — Karl is sleeping behind it.
Go to the windows and open the curtains. A short scene will begin, after which you will need to give Karl his medicine. Go to the bed and press the button that appears. Additional commands will pop up during the dialogue — follow them so that Marcus gives the medicine correctly.
Morning routines
The next task is to lift Karl and take him to the bathroom. Press the buttons shown, and Marcus will carry him there. After a short time, they will return.
Hold down the specified keys to have Marcus put Carl in a wheelchair. Once you start rolling the wheelchair, take it out of the room and move toward the stairs leading down.
Marcus will use the lift to take Karl down to the first floor. Go through the automatic door into the next room and roll the chair up to the dining table.
Breakfast and free time
You need to bring Karl his food. It is on the kitchen counter in the next room. Take the dishes and return to the dining room. To serve breakfast, you will need to press each button and command that appears.
While Karl is eating, Marcus is free to move around and choose an activity he likes. There is a magazine on the coffee table in the middle of the room, near the sofas. There are three activities to choose from:
- A game of chess
- Playing the piano
- Reading a book
When choosing a piano, Marcus will be offered several musical pieces. Choose any one — buttons will appear on the screen that you need to press to play the melody. After a while, Carl will approach Marcus for a conversation. Get up from the instrument and lead Carl through the door behind you.
Art studio
You will find yourself in the artist’s studio. Marcus will place Carl on a special mechanism, after which you will be able to move freely again. First, open the curtains for Carl, then tidy up the studio. Art supplies are scattered on the floor and shelves — Marcus can clean them up. When you have interacted with all the objects and the studio is clean, look up — Karl is painting a picture on canvas.
Karl will go downstairs and talk to Marcus. He will ask if you like his work. Make your choice and watch the ensuing dialogue. In the continuation of the scene, Marcus will be asked to draw something.
First picture
You have to choose an object to draw from three options:
- Painting by Karl
- Head of a statue nearby
- Table with paints
Regardless of the choice, Marcus will create an exact copy of what he sees in front of him.
Second picture
After a short conversation, you will need to paint another picture on a new canvas. Hold down the button when the prompt appears and select any of the emotions offered.
Then use the touchpad to have Marcus draw what he is representing. You will need to follow several commands that pop up on the screen as you draw.
When the work is complete, Karl’s son will enter the studio. After a short final scene, the chapter will end.
