You must protect the researcher from the attack of the Yasennyks and learn about the legacy of the legendary wizard of antiquity.
Rescuing a stranger

After Natsai leaves Lower Hogsfield, you will hear cries for help. The source of the sound is a tent by the lake, where Nora Treadwell has been attacked by two Ash Scouts. Deal with them, but be prepared: immediately after that, two more scouts and an Ash Duelist will appear.
Battle test: victory in 60 seconds

It is in this battle that you will be offered your first combat feat: defeat all enemies in less than a minute. The reward for success: additional experience and progress in the “Combat Feats” trials.
Recommended tactics
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Pull the enemy with the Actio spell. |
| 2 | Immediately cast Incendio |
| 3 | Finish them off with a series of basic attacks |
| 4 | Use Levioso to immobilize and continue attacking |
| 5 | Don’t forget about Ostolben’s counterattack when parrying |
Important: As soon as Yasenikov appears, focus all your attention on him. Eliminating this powerful opponent first will make it much easier to fight the remaining scouts.
Merlin’s First Test

The rescued Nora will reveal that the Yasennyks work for Rukword. She herself is studying the legacy of Merlin, an ancient wizard who once studied at Hogwarts and left mysterious trials throughout the area.
How to activate the trial

The key to starting any trial is mellowsweet herb. Nora will ask you to get some from the chest next to her tent.
- Take the mellowsweet from the chest
- Approach the stone spiral pattern on the ground
- Place the mellowsweet leaves in the center of the pattern
After activating the vines, the ones entwined around the nearest pillars will disappear. At the top of each pillar, you will find a brazier—there are three in total. Set all the braziers alight with the Incendio spell.

Congratulations! You have completed Merlin’s first trial in the South Region of Hogwarts. Return to Nora to complete the quest.
Why undergo Merlin’s trials?
Start the trials as early as possible — the rewards for completing them increase your inventory capacity. The more trials you complete, the less often you will have to sell or destroy equipment.
