This Rehearsal section is a teamwork check built around two ideas: activating musical controls fast, then moving safely through a dark room where light is life.
You will clear a keyboard gate, survive a spotlight platforming run, and finish by reaching a switch that triggers the ending cutscene.
Open the first gate
At the start you’ll see three MIDI keyboards. Your goal is to activate at least half of the buttons on each keyboard to unlock the passage.
Practical approach that stays consistent under pressure:
Split keyboards so both players work at the same time.
On each keyboard, cover new buttons instead of overlapping the same area.
Before leaving, do a quick visual sweep and top off any keyboard that looks under-activated.
Cross the dark room
After the gate, you’ll reach a dark room with platforms. Cody must stay inside the spotlight while moving forward. If Cody remains in darkness for a few seconds, he will take damage and can die.
Treat the spotlight like your oxygen. If Cody steps out, correct immediately.
Clean coordination tips:
The light operator moves the beam first, then Cody moves.
Keep the beam slightly ahead of Cody on tricky jumps so the landing is already safe.
Use short callouts like “hold,” “move light,” “go” to prevent overcorrecting.
Use the lanterns
The spotlight isn’t only for protection. The light operator also needs to shine on lanterns, which activate passages for Cody.
A simple rhythm that works:
Keep the beam on Cody by default.
When a lantern is in range, briefly move the beam to light it.
Return the beam to Cody before Cody commits to the next jump.
Handle two spotlights
Later you’ll control two spotlights at once. Manage them with a clear rule:
One spotlight stays on Cody at all times.
The second spotlight is used to illuminate lanterns to open the way forward.
If you start losing control, stop Cody in a safe lit area, reset both beams, then continue.
End the section
Once you reach the switch, interact with it. A cutscene will play and the Rehearsal section will end.
Quick fixes
Gate will not open: one or more keyboards is under the “half activated” threshold—go back and activate more buttons.
Cody keeps dying: pause movement until the spotlight is stable, then advance in short, deliberate bursts.
Path feels blocked: look for an unlit lantern that needs the spotlight to activate the next passage.
Two spotlights feel chaotic: assign one beam as “Cody only” and never break that rule.
