This section shifts fast from platforming into steady combat and co-op timing. May’s toolkit is a water hose plus a sickle, while Cody fights and solves pathing with a vine sprout and plant transformations like a cactus turret.

First arena with the shielded tree enemy

Early on, you’ll meet a bulky tree creature that blocks attacks with a shield while smaller infected plants join the fight. The clean way to handle it is teamwork: Cody pins the shield with his vine so May can get behind it and cut it down with the sickle. Don’t tunnel the main target while adds are piling up; clear space first, then lock the shield again.

Setting up the spider traversal

Soon after, you’ll use water and wind to move forward, and you’ll pick up spider mounts for both players. Spiders can crawl around trees on lighter bark and can hang fully upside down by shooting a web above. If you hit a dead end, look up and around for a web point or a wraparound bark path rather than assuming you missed a jump.

Clearing the goo and opening the wheel route

When Cody gets stopped by pink sludge, May needs to wash it off with the hose to reopen his path. Treat this like a callout moment: Cody stands at the edge and waits, May clears the exact patch that blocks the next foothold, then Cody moves.

You’ll also reach a large wooden wheel used as a moving platform. Cody uses the vine to pull and reposition the wheel so May can climb and web her way up, then Cody adjusts it again to line up the next climb. If you’re failing the timing, stop trying to rush it and instead move the wheel into a stable, obvious alignment before May commits.

Surviving the flying weed fight

Later combat introduces flying infected plants and constant pressure from smaller threats. Cody’s job is to control the air targets with the vine so they can be hit reliably, while May stays close enough to land sickle hits but far enough to dodge bursts and ground hazards. When the arena starts to flood with small enemies, reset the fight rhythm: wipe the swarm first, then grab a priority target and finish it cleanly.

Final push with cactus cover fire

Near the end of the section, you’ll hold position while May waters a plant to create a safe crossing, and Cody anchors defense by turning into the cactus form and shooting incoming enemies. May should commit to watering without drifting into the fight unless Cody calls for help; Cody should focus on keeping the lane clear so the plant finishes and leaf platforms appear. Once the leaves are up, move immediately and end the segment rather than farming the last wave.
