South Park Arrives in Fortnite This Week: First Look at the Collaboration

The iconic animated series becomes the latest major brand to join Epic Games’ battle royale phenomenon.

Epic Games and South Park Studios have unveiled the first footage of their highly anticipated collaboration, revealing how the beloved animated characters will appear in Fortnite.

Available Characters

From January 9 through February 5, players can acquire skins featuring these South Park favorites:

• Stan
• Kyle
• Cartman
• Kenny
• Butters

Character Design Approach

Developers created unique mech-style outfits for each character, packed with references to the show. This design choice addresses a technical requirement—Fortnite maintains uniform hitboxes across all characters to ensure fair gameplay. The same approach was previously used for Bart and Lisa Simpson, since the original smaller character models wouldn’t work with the game’s mechanics.

Story Integration and New Features

A specially produced animated short titled “Born in Chaos” explains how these South Park characters entered the Fortnite universe. The storyline centers on Butters’ frustration at being excluded from his friends’ 4-player squad. In response, his villainous alter-ego Professor Chaos wields the Stick of Truth (recognizable from the Ubisoft RPG games) to introduce 5-player squads to Fortnite for this limited-time event.

New Location and In-Game Items

The update introduces Cartmanland as a new point of interest on the map. Unlike the extensive Simpsons crossover that transformed the entire island into Springfield, this South Park location will occupy a designated section of the map.

Players can expect themed items including Cheesy Poofs, the show’s version of cheese puffs. Additional South Park characters like Towlie will make appearances throughout Cartmanland.

Given the substantial number of skins released during The Simpsons collaboration, more South Park content may be announced during the event period.
