In the Shadow of the Undercroft

A story quest in the shadow of the Tunnel in Hogwarts Legacy. Sebastian Sallow will reveal a secret room in the castle and teach you a forbidden spell that you can practice in this secluded place.

Meeting with Sebastian

Head to the Dark Arts Defense Tower after dark—that’s where Sebastian will be waiting for you. A short dialogue will touch on recent events in the library, after which you should follow him down the corridor. The path will lead to a dead end, but you will notice a cabinet on the right. Interact with it — it is a disguised entrance to the Tunnel.

Once inside the secret room, don’t rush over to Sebastian. While he’s talking about his discovery, look around and collect the contents of the chests scattered around the room. Then go over to him to talk.

Sebastian will ask you to keep the location of the Undercave a secret. He will explain that it is the perfect place to practice forbidden magic and offer to teach you Confringo — the Explosive Curse.

Learning the Confringo spell

To learn a new spell, complete the standard mini-game by memorizing the combination. After successfully completing it, you will be given a practical task: there are three unlit chandeliers in the room — strike each of them with Confringo. Once you have completed the task, return to Sebastian to finish the conversation.

Completion of the quest

Upon leaving the Tunnel, you will encounter Omnis Gont. He will warn you that any mention of the secret room will result in your expulsion from Hogwarts. This concludes the task.
