Atomic Heart Prologue Walkthrough — Step-by-Step Guide

The opening chapter of Atomic Heart is completely free of combat. Here, you’ll be introduced to the game’s futuristic world and its main character—Major Sergei “P-3” Nechaev. All you need to do at this stage is enjoy the atmosphere and follow the story.

Start: River Cruise

The game kicks off without a moment’s delay—the P-3 is sailing down a winding river and chatting with its AI companion named Charles. This boat segment serves as an introduction to an alternate-history universe, so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

The pier and the town square

As soon as the boat docks, turn right and walk along the pier. You’ll hear various conversations going on around you—take your time and soak up the atmosphere. Ahead of you lies a bustling town square filled with people. Among the interactive events here is a funny robot handing out ice cream.

Your destination is the northeast corner of the square. Find the archway near the crowd of cheering citizens and go through it.

Directions to the Lab

On the other side of the arch, follow the route through the interactive mural. Look for the area where a large robot is projecting images onto the wall of the building across the street.

Go to this building and talk to the female robot at the entrance. Nechaev will show his ID, after which the robot will let him in and tell him about neuropolymers.

What are neuropolymers?

These are small capsules that allow you to instantly master skills, professions, and other abilities. Nechaev turns out to be one of the first to have the opportunity to test them out.

Gaining the ability to scan

When the robot finishes its monologue, turn around and pick up the capsule from the table on the left. P-3 will automatically sync with it and gain the scanning ability—it lets you see through walls and find useful items in your surroundings.

Try out your new ability, then leave the lab through the door to the left of the robot.

The bridge, the parade, and the entrance to the facility

Cross the bridge and continue along the route. Along the way, you’ll see a parade and hear Sechnoff’s inspiring speech. Ahead lies a massive structure, toward which the road leads.

Once inside, head to the elevator directly in front of you. Wait for it to go up to the top floor.

Picking up the car keys

On the top floor, turn left and go through the double doors—a short cutscene will play in which two robots will hand you the car key.

After that, leave the room and return to the elevator. You’ll have a conversation with Sechkov, and then you’ll find yourself on the first floor.

Leave the building through the main entrance. Find the black car—it’s marked by the mission marker. Interact with the door, and Sergey will get into the car.

The Road to Object 3826

A long rail sequence is about to begin—P-3 is heading to Object 3826. Relax and watch what unfolds: very soon, everything will go awry, and after the title screen appears, the main adventure in a dark sci-fi world will begin.
