The True Purpose: The “Atomic Heart” Project Why did peaceful cargo robots start killing people in the first place? The fact is that a combat module was originally built into every robot.

This is part of a global government plan called the Atomic Heart Project. The essence of the plan is this: the USSR actively sells (or supplies for free) its robots to the United States. These machines are deployed at strategically important facilities: military bases, power plants, etc. At the appointed hour, the Soviet leadership uses the “Collective 2.0” neural network to remotely activate combat mode in all robots simultaneously, effectively seizing control of the United States without declaring a traditional war.

Why did Petrov cause the malfunction?

Engineer Petrov and his lover, Dr. Larisa, discovered that the system contained a hidden capability to suppress human will. Petrov staged an act of sabotage to show the whole world (and especially the U.S.) that robots could be deadly. He wanted to derail the “Atomic Heart” project and prevent Sechenov from launching the neural network. Petrov even planned to pass the information to the West to provoke sanctions on the import of Soviet robots.

Alpha and Beta Connectors (Golden Rings) Golden rings are often mentioned in the game—these are the connectors used to control the “Collective 2.0” network:

  • Alpha Connector: Belongs to Sechenov. Whoever possesses it holds absolute power (administrator rights) within the “Collective” network and can control all people and robots connected to it.
  • Beta Connectors (two rings): Allow one to connect to the “Collective” network invisibly, remaining beyond the control of the Alpha Connector. It was these rings that Sechenov planned to use for his bodyguards—The Twins.

Sechenov’s plan (as presented by HRAS) was to launch “The Collective,” impose his will on the world through the Alpha Connector, and then destroy it, leaving control solely in the hands of the Twins with their Beta Connectors, whose orders no one could overturn.
