Surviving at Facility 3826 depends not only on how quickly you kill robots, but also on how effectively you can take a beating. In this section of the guide, we’ll take a detailed look at the glove’s only defensive ability—“Polymer Shield”—as well as the passive upgrade trees, without which a comfortable playthrough on high difficulty levels is impossible.

1. Polymer Shield (Polymer Sphere)

This is a secondary but incredibly powerful defensive ability. As you level it up, the shield not only absorbs damage but also gains a host of useful properties.

The Evolution of Shield Leveling:

  1. Protection against direct physical damage.
  2. Reflects laser beams back at the enemy.
  3. Reflects all types of attacks (melee and ranged).
  4. Restores your energy and health when your shield is struck.
  5. The shield explodes at the end of its duration, spraying enemies with polymer.

Shield Combat Tactics: The effect lasts only a few seconds, so timing is important, but it doesn’t require superhuman reflexes. The main rule: you must attack from behind the shield! The shield itself does not deal damage (except for parrying).

  • Weapon Synergy: The “Electro” pistol with the “Energy Vampire” module pairs perfectly with a shield. While you’re protected, you can fire and quickly build up energy for powerful melee special attacks. Unfortunately, Energy Vampire does not reduce the shield’s cooldown.
  • Against Bosses: The shield saves you from the heaviest attacks from Belyash or Plyushch. And in the battle against the Twins, it proves its worth 100%. The Ballerinas will often spam lasers and energy waves. By activating the shield at the right moment, you reflect their own attacks back at them, dealing substantial damage while remaining completely safe.

2. Passive Abilities: “Character” and “Energy” Branches

If you’re not interested in “magical” tricks with Stuzha or Polymer, and you want to play a classic armored assault trooper (Doomguy style), invest all your neuropolymers in passive skills.

“Character” Branch (Survivability and Convenience):

  • Health Boost: Base increase to Major’s health.
  • Inventory Expansion: Essential for carrying a large arsenal of weapons, ammunition, and first-aid kits.
  • Elemental Protection: Reduces incoming laser and physical damage.
  • One-Handed Healing: An incredibly useful skill. Allows you to use a healing capsule with your left hand without interrupting shooting or attacks with the weapon in your right hand.

“Energy” Branch (Arsenal Replenishment):

  • Increases the total capacity of the energy bar.
  • Speeds up passive energy regeneration.
  • Energy is required to fire the “Electro,” “Dominator,” and “Railgun” pistols, as well as for powerful charged (special) attacks with melee weapons like the “Star.”

Even if you completely ignore the glove’s active abilities (except for the basic Shock), maxing out the passive skill trees turns Atomic Heart into a top-tier meat-grinder shooter. Combine elemental cartridges on your barrels, dodge at the right moments, and you’ll easily “take down the bad guys” on any difficulty level.
