Start of chapter: Return home

Person pouring orange juice into glass on table

The events of this chapter begin after Marcus and Carl return from the party. As soon as you take control of the character, go to the living room and pour Carl a whiskey. The bottle is in the center of the room. Follow the commands that appear on the screen to pour the drink into glasses.

Connor from Detroit: Become Human speaking indoors

After a brief scene, Marcus will contact the police, and Carl will ask you to enter the studio through the automatic door.

Confrontation with Leo

Markus confronts someone indoors in Detroit: Become Human

An unpleasant surprise awaits you in the studio: Karl’s son, Leo, is searching the premises. An argument breaks out between father and son, after which Karl instructs you to escort Leo out. Approach him and choose one of the response options.

Important note: regardless of your choice, Leo will start acting aggressively towards both you and his own father, who will try to stop the fight. Leo will push you, and Carl will demand that Marcus not defend himself.

A critical choice: becoming a deviant

While Leo continues to attack, buttons will appear on the screen allowing Marcus to disobey orders and become a deviant. Press them as they appear to overcome the program’s limitations.

When this happens, Leo will grab you, and you will face a fateful choice:

Detroit: Become Human Connor confronts man indoors
  • Pushing Leo will lead to his demise.
  • Endure punishment — recommended option

Why you should choose “Endure”

If you push Leo, he will die, which will prevent you from obtaining one of the journals in the subsequent chapter, “Waiting for Hank.” Choosing “Endure” will allow you to retain access to this collectible item, although it will lead to tragic consequences for Carl.

The tragic outcome

Connor from Detroit: Become Human checking injured man indoors

During the conflict, Carl will suffer a heart attack. If you choose the “Endure” option, he will die from the attack. This is intended by the developers as the canonical outcome of events for a “good” ending to the game.

After Karl’s death, there will be a short scene in which Marcus is accused of murdering his employer. The chapter will end with the police shooting at the main character.
