The Lakeside Resort chapter takes place in winter and alternates between Ellie and Joel. Ellie hunts a deer, meets survivors David and James, defends against infected, gets captured, escapes, and fights David. Joel wakes up and rescues Ellie from Silver Lake.

How to Hunt the Deer as Ellie?
Ellie must hunt a deer to obtain food. The hunt begins in a snowy forest area.
Backpack contents (8 new items, numbers 66-73):
- Check the backpack at the start for supplies
Hunt sequence:
- Shoot at the deer from long range (Ellie will miss)
- Sneak closer to avoid spooking the deer
- Shoot from medium distance to wound the deer
- Chase and shoot the wounded deer again to kill it
Where to Find Comic Book #9?
Enter the wooden cabin after the hunt. Comic Book #9 is in the left room inside a desk drawer.
After picking up the comic, catch up to the killed deer outside.
How to Meet David and James?
Approach the dead deer in the forest. Two survivors, David and James, will appear.
Trade agreement:
- Ellie offers deer meat
- David and James will bring antibiotics in exchange
- Ellie stays alone with David while James leaves
How to Survive the Infected Attack at the Cabin?
Infected attack the cabin after James leaves. Ellie and David must defend all entry points.

- Climb back up to David on the upper walkways
- David boosts Ellie onto the upper walkways
Where to Find Firefly Pendant #25?
After David boosts Ellie up, pick up a brick on the upper walkway.
Pendant location:
- Throw brick at a Clicker to stun it
- Finish the Clicker with melee weapon
- Walk right along the walkways, then go back to a dead end
- Firefly Pendant #25 is on a crate in the dead end
After collecting the pendant, drop the ladder down and climb up with David to the right upper area.
How to Defend the Room from Infected Waves?
Enter a room through the slanted corridor. Collect Molotov cocktails and ammunition first.

Return to the cabin and talk by the campfire. David reveals his group previously encountered “a psychopath with a girl.”

How to Complete the Distraction Maneuver on Horseback?
The next day, bandits track Ellie and Joel’s hideout. Ellie must distract enemies away from Joel by riding past houses on horseback.
Horse sequence:
- Kill the 1st enemy
- Knock down the 2nd and 3rd enemies
- Bandits shoot the horse
- Ellie falls down a slope
Where to Find Firefly Pendant #26?
After the horse falls, climb through the cabin window. Collect ammunition inside.
Exit to the street with enemies. Firefly Pendant #26 is in the wooden gazebo on the right.
Combat tip: Eliminate enemies silently with the bow. Killing all enemies is optional.

Move forward and climb the rocks along the wall.
- Crawl through the first pipe
- Turn around immediately after exiting
- Comic Book #10 is on the bench above
Second pipe:
- Push the crate from outside (left side) first
- Then crawl through the pipe
How to Infiltrate the Large Mansion?
Three bandits guard the front of the mansion. Stealth approach is possible.
Infiltration route:
- Climb crates to reach a wall breach
- Collect ingredients inside the building
- Enter the large hall (2 enemies present)
- Kick open the exit doors
David captures Ellie at the exit.
How to Play as Joel After Waking Up?
Joel regains consciousness and must find Ellie. Exit the garage to begin.

- Follow the lights to a dead end
- Climb the barrel to reach a high narrow window
How to Defeat David (Boss Fight)?
The boss fight against David takes place in a restaurant kitchen and dining area.
Medkit locations:
- 1 medkit in the kitchen
- 1 medkit on the raised platform in the dining area
Boss fight strategy:
- Exit kitchen to the dining area
- David attacks at the entrance door
- Stab David with the knife once
- Hide behind tables when David searches
- Approach David from behind when distracted and stab
- Repeat: run, hide, stab from behind
- Total of 3 successful stabs required to defeat David
