Detroit: Become Human — Walkthrough of the “Battle for Detroit” chapter for the best ending
The finale of Detroit: Become Human weaves together the fates of Connor, Kara, and Marcus into a single denouement. Every decision here can wipe out hours of gameplay—one wrong choice, and the “good” ending will be unattainable. This guide will walk you through all the key moments of the final chapter and ensure you get the best ending.
Introduction: Address by the President
The chapter begins with the president’s press conference on the events in Detroit. Prompts with questions from journalists will appear on the screen — choose any of them, it doesn’t matter. The answers only briefly summarize what happened in the previous episodes. After about four questions, the president will leave the podium and the scene will end.
Connor: elevator in the CyberLife tower
After the cutscene, control switches to Connor. Follow the Cyberlife guard through the building and enter the elevator. There are two guards inside, and you have a clear plan of action.
What to do in an elevator
Step
What to do
Why
1
Look up and to the left, scan the camera, and hack it
Disabling the video stream will prevent a dangerous combat scene later in the chapter—without this, Connor may die
2
Look at the guard on the left and start the pre-construction
Connor will plan to neutralize the first guard
3
During the pre-construction, scan the right guard’s belt.
A kick will be added to the attack plan
4
Activate execution and go through a series of on-screen prompts
Both guards will be neutralized
After dealing with the guards, examine the elevator control panel. From the options provided, select “Agent 54’s Voice” to change the direction of travel. A cutscene will play, and control will pass to Kara.
Kara: the way to the bus station
Kara and Alice left Jericho and found themselves on the streets of Detroit. They have 20 minutes to get to the bus station—if they don’t make it in time, the bus will leave without them.
Alice settings and first steps
Keep moving forward. Soon, Kara will stop to talk to Alice. The game will prompt you to disable her heat/cold settings—leave them enabled. This will play a crucial role at the checkpoint later in the story.
Continuing on her way, Kara picks up a pistol from the ground next to the bodies of the androids. Next comes a stealth section: you need to hide behind cars and run across when the risk indicator shows “Low Risk” and the SWAT fighters turn away.
Luther’s Salvation
As you make your way between the cars, you will find Luther, who is about to be executed. Select “Save Luther” — Kara will move closer to him. When the game prompts you to pick up a weapon, turn around and pick up the brick from the ground. Carefully sneak up on the guard and, when prompted, hit him on the head. Luther is saved and will join your group.
Checkpoint
After a series of detours, you will find yourself at a fork in the road: a passage through a guarded gate or a long detour. If time is short, go through the gate.
Dialogue with the security guard — correct answers:
— Show your documents → give your ID
— Reason for visit → “My car broke down”
— When Luther starts to get nervous → “Stay calm”
— Question about Alice → “She’s cold” (that’s why it was important to leave the heat/cold settings)
— Luther panics again → select “Stay calm” twice
The guard will simply return Alice’s dropped glove, and the three of them will proceed to the bus station.
Marcus: peaceful demonstration
Control switches to Marcus, who is leading the march through the streets of Detroit. After the cutscene, hold the stick forward and move toward the center of the street. The march is slow—be patient. The L1 button allows you to examine the riot police positions ahead, but keep moving.
Once you reach the desired location, you will be given a choice of demonstration type. Select “Calm” — public opinion will rise. OMON will open fire on the androids, but paradoxically, this will dramatically increase public support.
The shooting will occur twice. After the second time, a choice of action will appear — click “Raise your hands.“ Public opinion will continue to grow, and Marcus will maintain a peaceful course. A video will follow, and the camera will return to Connor.
Connor: main hall of the Cyberlife tower
Connor arrives on the floor with an army of androids. If you hacked the camera in the elevator earlier, the combat QTE sequence with the CyberLife guards will be skipped — Connor will simply block the elevator and calmly exit.
Join the ranks of the androids. At a certain point, Connor will try to hack one of them — follow the on-screen prompts. The process will be interrupted by Connor’s doppelganger, who has taken Hank hostage. After the scene, control will return to Kara.
Kara: bus station and tickets
At the bus station, it turns out that you can’t get on the bus without a ticket. Maneuver around the terminal, avoiding the patrolling security guards.
How to get a ticket
Move forward and to the left. Behind the television monitor, a woman with a child is sitting on a bench—talk to her. Her husband will appear, and during the conversation, he will drop a bus ticket. Pick it up following the hint on the screen.
The couple will return and ask if you have seen their ticket. Select “Keep the ticket” twice.
⚠️ Critical moment: you must keep the ticket. If you return it, the plot will follow a branch where one of the characters will later die, and the best ending will become unavailable. You will have to replay the entire section.
Take your ticket to the security guard at the boarding gate and show it to him. Kara, Alice, and Luther will board the bus. At the door, Alice will ask about the couple—choose “Reassure.“
Marcus: Barricade in the city center
After switching to Marcus, go to the car and push it to complete the barricade. Next, walk around the camp — there are several things you can do here to improve public opinion:
Action
Effect
Talk to Simon, Josh, and the survivors
Plot revelation
Set fire to the trash cans
Androids will gather around the fire
Plant the flag on the barricade
Rise in public opinion
Send a digital message to a journalist (peaceful)
Additional rise in public opinion
After all the activities, talk to North. In the dialogue about losses, choose the “Regrets” option — this will deepen the relationship between Marcus and North.
Negotiations with the FBI agent
North will call you over to the edge of the barricade, where an FBI agent will appear. Accept his invitation to talk (“Accept”). In the dialogue, stick to the following line:
“Other demonstrations”
“I’m not afraid”
“Reject the deal”
⚠️ Critical moment: Accepting the FBI’s deal closes the door to a happy ending. Refuse under any circumstances, no matter what the agent says.
After the refusal, Marcus will return to his people. A grenade will fly into the barricade, and the scene will switch to Connor.
Two Connors: Confrontation in the Tower
Connor’s double holds Hank at gunpoint. In the dialogue, choose:
“Hank” (apology to Hank)
“Convince”
“Save Hank” — this will give Hank time to free himself
“Shield” — Connor will protect Hank and engage the doppelganger in combat
Complete the QTE sequence of the fight. Hank will interrupt the fight and point his gun at both Connors. To prove that you are the real one, answer his questions correctly:
Hank’s question
Correct answer
What is my dog’s name?
Sumo
What was my son’s name?
Cole (available if you have examined enough items in the “Russian Roulette” chapter)
Hank will shoot the impostor. Now press the hints to hack the androids in the hall—the wake-up signal will spread throughout the room.
Kara: Canadian border
The bus will take Kara, Luther, and Alice to the border crossing in Canada. Enter the building and stand in line. They are scanning people ahead of you—the situation is tense.
Preparing for the test
Look around in the queue and perform three actions:
Look at Luther — a short conversation will reveal an additional option for the development of events.
Look to the right at Jerry — another important dialogue for the scene finale.
Look far to the left and notice Rose — click on the hint, then head to the restroom.
In the restroom, examine the mirror. Rose will appear—talk to her, choosing all available topics. End the dialogue with the options “Departure” and “Farewell.“ After leaving the restroom, talk to Rose’s son standing nearby.
The decisive choice
Returning to the queue, you will face the main decision of this branch. For the best ending, choose “No sacrifices.“
⚠️ Note: The “No Sacrifices” option guarantees the best ending only if you have a high level of public opinion earned in Marcus’s storyline. If public support is low, you can choose “Sacrifice Jerry” — Kara, Luther, and Alice will still get a good ending.
After you make your choice, the guard will let the group through. All three will cross the border and find themselves in Canada.
Marcus: the climax of the demonstration
Marcus gets to his feet as new grenades fly into the barricade. Press the QTE prompts to help the other androids dodge. Then the SWAT team bursts in—keep fighting off attacks and rescuing allies using the on-screen prompts.
As a result, the group is driven into a corner. You are faced with a final choice:
Sing
Sacrifice yourself
Kiss North (available when a relationship has been established)
Select “Kiss North” — the assault will cease. A long cutscene will begin, showing the consequences of all your decisions, including the president’s new address.
Connor: The Final Test in Consciousness
During Marcus’ speech to the androids, Connor’s consciousness is transferred to a virtual space, where he has a final conversation with Amanda. Afterwards, Connor finds himself in the middle of a fierce blizzard.
The scene will switch between Connor’s inner world and reality. Your task is to guide Connor through the blizzard to the control panel and press the button.
⚠️ Critical moment: if you don’t make it to the panel and press the button in time, Connor will grab the gun and kill Marcus right in the middle of his speech. The best ending will be lost.
End credits
If you did everything right, the final cutscene will start after the control panel. The credits will roll, followed by aspecial scene of Connor and Hank meeting after the events in Detroit. This is your reward for the “good” ending.
In the “bad” ending, they will show Amanda deactivating Connor instead. The scene with Hank is only available if you reach the best ending.
