Infected Blood Craft is Grace’s new unique specialty in Resident Evil 9: Requiem. The heroine uses the Blood Collector to gather materials, but without the necessary recipes, this blood is useless.

In this guide, we’ll take a detailed look at where to find all the blood specimens, how to solve the puzzles involving their analysis, and what new crafting options they unlock. Once you successfully analyze your first specimen, you’ll earn the “Science!” achievement and trophy.

How to Analyze Blood Samples in RE9 Requiem

The analysis is performed on special devices: one is located in the Blood Lab, and the other is in the Office. When interacting with the terminal, you will see interconnected atoms: some of them are spheres, and others are cubes.

Main rules of the puzzle:

  • Goal: Convert all cubic nodes into spheres.
  • Mechanics: Clicking on any node changes not only its shape, but also the shape of all nodes connected to it.
  • Limits: The game always suggests the minimum number of moves required. If you make too many incorrect moves, the puzzle will become harder—in that case, simply reset the puzzle and start over.

Below are the exact locations of each sample and instructions on how to complete the mini-games in the fewest number of moves.

1. Denatured Blood Specimen

This is your first sample, and there are no hidden catches.

  • Where to find it: In the Blood Lab, next to the Blood Collector. The analyzer is in the same room.
  • Solution (Minimum steps: 1): The puzzle consists of three connected cubes. Simply click on the central cube, and the analysis will be complete.
  • Unlocks: Allows you to craft Handgun Ammo and Hemolytic Injectors.

2. Converged Blood Specimen

To obtain this sample, you will need a key card. Please note that its location depends on the difficulty level.

  • Where to find it: In the Ward Office, which is connected to the Waiting Room in the East Wing.
  • The door can only be opened after receiving an ID Wristband Level 1.
    • Note: On Insanity difficulty, this item is located in the Records Room.
  • Solution (Minimum moves: 2): On one side, you will see three connected cubes. Click on the center cube. This will turn the two adjacent nodes into spheres. Then select the second cube from the end of the resulting chain to turn all remaining cubes into spheres and complete the puzzle.
  • Unlocks: Recipes for Med Injectors and 12.7×55 mm cartridges, which can be used to process Rare Metal into powerful “Requiem” ammunition.

3. Reversible Blood Specimen

This sample is hidden not far from the first one, but requires access to a restricted area.

  • Where to find it: In the same Blood Lab, but behind a security door that requires a Level 1 ID bracelet. Inside, you’ll also find your first Empty Injector.
  • Solution (Minimum steps: 4): 1. Click on the central cube node. 2. A group of three cubes will remain in the corner—click on the central cube in this group to remove it. 3. Four cubes will remain. You need to click on the corner cubes on each side that are not connected to the center. The first click on a corner node will leave exactly three connected cubes.4. Click on the center of these remaining three cubes to finish the analysis.
  • What it unlocks: Allows you to convert Empty Injectors into Steroids and Stabilizers—items that permanently boost Grace’s stats.

Exclusive: Insanity Blood Specimen

If you play the game on “Casual” or “Standard” difficulty, you will find only three samples. However, on “Insanity” difficulty, a secret fourth sample appears.

  • Unlocks: The crafting recipe for the R.I.P. Knife (an exclusive weapon for this mode) and a pack of handgun ammunition (Handgun Ammo x30).
