“Sealed in Stone” is the fourth mission for the House Roberts faction, in which the player takes on the role of a crane operator. Your goal is to dig up a mysterious artifact from the ground at the Karin Quarry.

Since there is no main operator, Cleve has to figure out how to operate the construction equipment on his own. Many players find the crane controls confusing, so in this guide we’ll walk you through, step by step, how to position the hook correctly and complete the quest.

How to Start the “Sealed in Stone” Quest

Before starting this quest, you must complete the previous stage—the Stolen Quarry quest—in which you must defeat the boss, Marni’s Excavatron.

  1. After defeating the boss, return to Karin Quarry. This area is now considered safe territory.
  2. Follow the quest marker and find a character named Erich.
  3. Talk to him: he will give you the key to the control room and ask you to move a huge boulder to reach the artifact.

Instructions for Operating the Crane and Retrieving the Relic

Step 1: Climb up to the cab

After talking to Erich, go to the nearest elevator. Stand behind the controls and turn the wheel to the right until you reach the top. Use your stamina to speed up the ascent.

Step 2: Hook Control

Exit the elevator and use the key you received to open the control room. Interact with the mechanisms to start the process. Your goal is the relic located at the bottom right.

Main control buttons:

  • D-Pad (Cross-key) left/right: move the hook horizontally.
  • Right stick: adjust the camera and zoom in/out to see the hook’s position better.
  • D-Pad (Up): Lift the object.

Step 3: Precise positioning

This is the most critical moment. For the hook to grab the artifact, it must be positioned directly above the square relic.

Tip: Use the hook’s shadow as a guide and zoom in to ensure accuracy. If the position is correct, the hook will automatically latch onto the object.

Step 4: Completing the task

Once the hook clicks into place, press the Up button on the D-pad several times to pull the relic out of the ground. After that, the quest will update.

What to do after the quest?

After successfully retrieving the artifact, you can return to Count Roberts in Hernand Town to complete this faction’s storyline.

Important note: Moving the relic unlocks access to a new underground location. Be sure to check it out—there you’ll find the Abyss Teleporter disk, which is needed to solve the puzzle in the Mysterious Energy Zone near Howling Hill Camp.
