The continent of Paivel in Crimson Desert isn’t just about endless battles with monsters and bosses. It’s a deep, living world where even small, everyday moments become an important part of your adventure. In this final guide, we’ll break down the game’s “peaceful” mechanics: from developing your own base to cooking and run-ins with the law.
Camp of the Grey-Maned: Your Stronghold and Home
After the fall of Pailun under the onslaught of the Black Bears, your new base will be a settlement in the Hernande region—Graymane Camp. At first, it will be a very modest shelter, but as you progress through the game, you will be able to develop it.
What are the benefits of upgrading the camp?
Rest and Preparation: Here you can rest, prepare food to restore your health, and shop at the local merchant.
Personal Farm: You can set up a farm and a ranch within the camp. This will allow you to gather resources for cooking and crafting on your own, without having to wander through the woods.
Gathering a Squad: Your old comrades and new mercenaries who have heard of the Greymane’s revival will flock to the camp.
Partner Management
Your fighters won’t just sit around the campfire. As their leader, you can assign them tasks:
Resource Gathering: Send the Grey-maned to various corners of Payvel. Upon their return, they will bring you in-game currency, wood, ore, as well as rare ingredients for alchemy and cooking.
Clearing Territories: You can send mercenaries to enemy-occupied locations. They will reduce the number of enemies in the region, even if you are currently in a completely different location.
Cities, Villages, and the Justice System
As you travel the world, you’ll regularly visit major cities and hidden villages. Life is bustling here, and merchants are ready to offer their services:
The blacksmith will forge a powerful weapon for you;
The tailor will provide you with durable and beautiful clothing;
Merchants will sell daily supplies and valuable materials.
Quests and Random Events
The residents of Paivel are always in need of help. Their stories are closely woven into the region’s overarching narrative. You may be asked to protect a caravan from bandits, deliver a fragile cargo, or find a missing person. Listen carefully to the gossip—it can lead you to hidden locations or unusual quests (such as repairing mystical or mechanical objects).
Important: The law is strict! > Crimson Desert has a justice system. If you commit crimes (stealing, attacking civilians), the guards will become hostile. You will have to fight, pay a hefty fine, or even go to jail, which will make the game much more difficult.
Everyday Life: Cooking, Crafts, and Customization
To survive in the wilds of Paivela, you need to be able to provide for yourself.
1. Cooking and Alchemy Cooking is essential for survival. Food not only heals, but also provides temporary boosts to Health, Spirit, and Stamina.
Search for campfires around the world to cook meals using the recipes you find.
You can obtain ingredients by hunting and fishing.
Collect flowers and insects—they’re needed for alchemy and creating healing potions that will save your life in battle.
2. Crafting and Gathering Chop down trees, mine ore, and collect rare materials. You’ll need all of these to craft new armor, weapons, and upgraded tools that will make gathering resources even more efficient.
3. Character Customization Want to stand out? At Camp Greymane, you can completely change your character’s appearance:
Change hairstyle;
Get new tattoos;
Dye your clothes. You can find dyes in the open world or create your own using alchemy by experimenting with different colors.
Develop your camp, help the residents of Paivel, and create a unique style for your Grey-Maned. See you in the game!
