In the vast world of Pywel, your horse is your most vital asset. However, if you push your steed too hard, you’ll notice it slowing to a crawl, accompanied by visible fatigue marks (bloody streaks) on its coat. If your horse refuses to gallop, it’s time for some maintenance.
Here is how to manage horse fatigue and keep your mount in peak condition.
1. The Quick Fix: Feeding Your Horse
If you are far from civilization and need a boost, feeding your horse is the best mobile solution.
- Best Food Item: Sugar Cubes are the most effective way to restore stamina on the go.
- How to Feed: Open your inventory, hover over the food item, and hold A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation). Select “Feed to Horse” from the interaction menu.
- Pro Tip: One Sugar Cube won’t fully restore a completely exhausted horse. Always carry a stack of at least 5-10 cubes to avoid getting stranded in the wilderness.
2. The Full Recovery: Visiting Stables
While food is great for a quick fix, only a Stable provides a 100% stamina and health reset instantly.
- Locating Stables: Look for the Horseshoe icon on your map. If you haven’t visited a specific stable yet, it will appear as a question mark (?).
- Note: Do not confuse Stables with Saddleries (Saddle icon), which are for gear, not rest.
- Key Locations:
- Hernand Stable: Located just North of Hernand, slightly West of the Abyss Nexus.
- Greymane Camp: As you progress through faction quests and upgrade your home base, you will eventually unlock a permanent stable here.
3. Why You Shouldn’t Just “Get a New Horse”
When your horse is exhausted, you might be tempted to find a new one. However, we strongly advise against this.
- Bonding Benefits: Long-term use of the same horse builds a Bond, unlocking better stats and unique abilities.
- Investment: Switching horses resets this progress, making your journey across Pywel much harder in the long run.
