One of the biggest mysteries in Resident Evil 9: Requiem right now remains the so-called “Final Puzzle.” It’s a long and convoluted chain of secrets that the gaming community is still trying to unravel completely. However, we know one thing for sure: to complete it, you will definitely need the Severed Hand.

If you’ve just found this creepy item and don’t know what to do with it, our guide will give you clear instructions.

Where can I find The Severed Hand?

You will receive the Severed Hand (which belongs to the Girl chasing you) immediately after successfully completing the Care Center Basement stage. At first, it may seem like this story item has no obvious use, but that is not the case.

What to Do with a Severed Hand: Step-by-Step Instructions

To move forward and get a good dose of goosebumps, follow these steps:

Step 1: Leave Emily in a safe place

Before you start the puzzle, you need to free yourself. Leave Emily in one of two safe places:

  • With Harry at the helipad.
  • Sit her down on the couch in the Guard Office.

Step 2: Find a blood analyzer

Go to the Blood Lab or the Office. Find the Blood Analysis Machine there and use the Severed Hand on it.

Step 3: Solving the knot puzzle

Interacting with the device will launch a mini-game that is mechanically similar to the previous blood sample puzzles. The solution consists of three simple steps:

  1. Change the cube nodes at the far ends of the structure.
  2. Then change the central cube node.

Result: mRNA Code and the Final Puzzle

As soon as you solve the knot puzzle, the machine will display an ominous cryptic message: “Let’s play, along with a long mRNA code.

What does this do? After you scan your hand, the puzzle box you opened earlier will become active. Now you can enter the code you received using the Sun, Star, and Moon buttons.

Although this is just one stage of the global “Final Puzzle,” for which there is still no definitive solution, you now know the true purpose of the Severed Hand and are one step closer to unraveling the main mysteries of RE9: Requiem.
