What you’ll do in this section
- Pin the boss’s left hand in place using nails so May can reach the locks.
- Break two locks while surviving platform holes and saw attacks between cycles.
- Use the shovel-hand move to launch Cody and destroy the canister on top.
Phase 1: Break the locks with nailed hand-slams
Set up the left-hand pin
Keep your eyes on the boss’s left hand. You’ll spot two wooden slots—each one can take a nail, and they’re the key to holding the hand still.
Cody should be ready to throw nails into those wooden inserts as soon as he has a clean angle.
Trap the hand and crack the first lock
Wait for the Tool Box to slam that left hand down onto your platform. When it lands, Cody’s job is to lock the hand in place with the nails you prepared.
With the hand pinned, May uses the already-placed nails as a route to move up to the boss and hit the lock until it breaks.

Survive the counterattacks and repeat for the second lock
After the first lock goes down, the boss becomes more aggressive: it starts punching holes in the platform and also brings out the saw. Stay mobile and don’t linger near threatened sections of the floor.
Once you have space again, repeat the same setup: pin the left hand when it hits, then let May climb in and finish off the second lock to force the next phase.
Common mistake: rushing May in before the hand is properly pinned. If the hand shifts, her approach gets interrupted and you lose the cycle.
Phase 2: Use the shovel-hand to destroy the top canister
Dodge nails and bait the shovel-hand drop
Keep avoiding the shovel blade and the falling nails while you wait for the right opening.
When the Tool Box lowers its shovel-hand onto your platform, act immediately.
Ride the shovel and hit the yellow button
Cody should climb onto the shovel-hand as soon as it’s within reach. At the same time, May needs to strike the yellow button to trigger the launch.
While Cody is airborne, he should throw multiple nails into the canister on the upper part of the boss until it breaks.

Key takeaway: this phase is pure timing—Cody boards the shovel, May hits the yellow button, and Cody unloads nails mid-flight.
Tips / Common mistakes
- Don’t tunnel-vision the locks: after the first one breaks, the platform gets riskier (holes + saw), so reset your positioning before starting the second cycle.
- Treat the shovel-hand sequence like a “ready check”: Cody waits to board, May waits on the yellow button, then you commit together.
